Structure Fire at Key Bank in Downtown Boise

Engines 5,1,2,3,7,8, Trucks 5,6,7, and Battalions 1,2,and 3 were called to a report of a structure fire at the Key Bank building at 702 West Idaho Street in downtown Boise. Police arrived shortly after the dispatch from the Fire Department shortly after 4:00 p.m. to find flames showing from the building from the second floor on the southeast side of the building. Engine 5 confirmed this when they arrived on scene.

The fire was determined to have started in a planter box on the third floor, though how the fire started remains unknown. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, with minor damages to the interior of the building.

Boise Fire Trucks Apparatus Updates and News

I have been an avid fire engine fan most of my life.  As a kid, I would race down the street as soon as I would hear the fire engines heading to a call (in those days, they only went to fire calls).  I would try to catch up with them, and then would follow as long as I could see where they were going.  Sometimes, I was lucky, but more often I would lose sight of them.

I don’t know if it was the red color (though in the late 1970’s the lime-green came into fashion), the lights, the siren, or the combination.  As I got older I still had a fascination for them.  I started collecting diecast replicas of fire engines.  For a time, though they are now out of business, Code 3 Collectibles provided some of the most detailed engines of real working engines.  I have pictures of engines parked either inside the bays or outside of a few of the engines that I have replicas of.

The ultimate dream, of course, is to one day own my own fire engine.  I would prefer a Seagrave in the 1970’s or 1980’s era, and someday, that will become a reality.  For now, though, it is taking pictures upon pictures of the Boise Fire apparatus, note the changes in assignments, and the occasional new equipment purchases.  While most of the Boise Fire Department personnel know who I am, this blog will complement the website by hopefully providing you with up-to-date information and pictures of the apparatus.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of the Boise Fire Department for their kindness, time in pulling apparatus out for pictures, putting them back, giving me information, and their generosity.
